Frequently Asked Questions.

Telehealth

1. What is virtual telehealth?

Telehealth, or telemedicine, is a convenient way to receive healthcare as an alternative to a traditional in-person office visit. Care is provided by connecting you with a healthcare professional using secure video chat on your smartphone, computer, or tablet from wherever you are.

2. How does virtual telehealth work?

Telehealth allows you to visit a healthcare provider via video chat from the comfort of your home, office, or place of business. To get started, follow these simple steps:

  1. Schedule an appointment by visiting our website here

  2. Once you schedule an appointment, you will receive an email with an invitation to join one of our telehealth doctors in a “Virtual Exam Room” at the time of your scheduled appointment.

  3. During your virtual visit, your telehealth doctor will address your concerns, conduct a medical assessment, and suggest a treatment plan that may include prescription medications that can be sent to your preferred pharmacy.

3. What is the cost to see a virtual telehealth doctor?

Each visit with a telehealth provider costs $100. This does not include the cost of any medications that may be prescribed as part of your treatment plan during the visit.

4. Will my insurance cover the virtual telehealth visit?

Currently, we are not able to accept any medical insurance for telehealth visits. All visits must be paid in full at time of scheduling via credit card. We hope to accept medical insurance very soon!

5. What is your cancellation and no-show policy?

At Clinicare, our patient’s experience is our top priority. In order to respect both our patients’ and providers’ time, we politely request that when you schedule an appointment with one of our telehealth providers, you keep your appointment as scheduled, whenever possible. Appointments cannot be cancelled once made but can be rescheduled. Should you need to reschedule, this can be done up to 24 hours prior to the appointment start time using the link provided in the confirmation email sent to you at the time of booking. Please note, all appointments where you do not reschedule 24 hours prior to the start time AND/OR do not attend at the scheduled time will be charged fully with no refunds.

6. Will I be charged for my visit if the provider is not able to help me or provide me treatment?

If our telehealth doctor is not able to assess you virtually and/or requires you to physically visit a doctor’s office, you will be given full credit for your telehealth visit in the form of a free future visit. You will be given a “free visit code” that you or anyone you know may use.

However, if treatment in the form of prescriptions is not recommended/prescribed by our telehealth doctor, you will still be charged for your telehealth visit and assessment.

11. Will I need to schedule a virtual telehealth appointment every time I need a refill on my prescriptions?

In some cases, this may be necessary depending on the condition you are being treated for and the medication being prescribed. As part of your virtual visit, your healthcare provider will discuss a plan for follow up including medication refills, if needed.

12. Do I still need to visit my regular primary care doctor, or can I switch to the virtual telehealth doctor altogether for all my health needs?

At this time, we are not able to provide ongoing primary care via telehealth. It is highly recommended that you continue to see your primary care provider as you normally would for ongoing care. Our providers can complement the care you receive from your other doctors and provide after-hours access for minor illnesses, but our telehealth service is not meant to replace your primary care provider.

13. Will the telehealth doctor send my prescriptions to any pharmacy I want?

Yes! Our healthcare providers can send any prescriptions you require to whichever pharmacy you choose. If you do not have a pharmacy, our partners at Carolina Pharmacy, who have 6 convenient locations across the greater Charlotte area, are happy to help!
